Universal called a do-over on the adventures of Abraham Van Helsing.
Universal revealed today that it's pegged TRANSFORMERS and COWBOY AND ALIENS writers and FRINGE creators Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci to develop the studio's upcoming remakes of THE MUMMY and the infamously awful Stephen Sommers/Hugh Jackman vehicle VAN HELSING, with EYES WIDE SHUT and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE's Tom Cruise attached to star as Helsing.
If anyone was hoping for a more spooky-minded take on THE MUMMY, a la Universal's legacy, it'd seem pretty clear the lighthearted, forgettable adventure-like nature of the titles are sticking.
